On TV, teen pregnancy looks so glamorous but in real life, not so much. Denise was a good girl by city standards. She didn’t really drink or worry her parents too much. That was until she brought home Jarvis. Denise’s father would drop hints and her mother would ask about other boys in school.
When Denise got pregnant at 15, no one was really surprised. Everyday her stomach would get bigger and her school attendance would get smaller. Jarvis was in and out of the picture for a few months but always bragged to his friends about his baby’s mama, as if it were an urban badge of honor.
And then in her third trimester, as if fate had already planned it, one morning Denise woke up in a pool of blood. Screaming and sobbing was heard for days, but all her parents could do was shake their heads in disapproval. Many have lost children too early in life, but even fewer have lost them before they were even born.
